The Powell County Museum and Arts Foundation is pleased to announce our receival of grant funds from the Montana History Foundation! There funding of $9,000.00 allowed us to hire a mason contractor to finish our tower restoration project we started in the spring of 2021. We send vast amount of gratitude to the Montana History Foundation for helping to support the historical preservation of the oldest standing Prison structure.
We started our project in the beginning of May, the mason worked on Towers 4 & 5 repointing the top parapets and broken stones, and repointing areas of missing mortar. The Museum maintenance staff is now replacing the roofs on both towers. We are heading towards our goal of completing the project by this summer!
Thank you to all who visit the Museum’s! it is our pleasure to help preserve this wonderful piece of Montana History!
