Dear Friends of the Museum,
Members of the Powell County Museum & Arts Foundation help support the Old Montana Prison in its position as a world-class tourist attraction. Your support has helped attract over 2 million people to our area, each one enjoying the Montana hospitality that they encounter at the Museums, Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site, the Deer Lodge Historic District and the many other attractions that this region of Southwest Montana has to offer.

Once more we will be bringing to Deer Lodge the Missoula Children’s Theater, Montana Shakespeare in the Parks, New and exciting exhibits, the 4th of July Community Celebration, the 18th annual “Win a Classic Car” raffle and many other special events. We look forward to seeing you at the Museum in 2018.

The purpose of the Powell County Museum & Arts Foundation is to preserve and interpret the history of Montana, Powell County and Deer Lodge. We contribute to the economy of our community through the adaptive re-use of the Old Montana Prison as a tourist destination.
This effort encompasses operating and maintaining fifteen historic structures on more than six square city blocks as a museum complex called the Old Prison Museums.
The Old Prison Museums are located along the Yellowstone Trail, America’s first transcontinental highway. Attractions include the Old Prison (circa 1871–1979), the world-class Montana Auto Museum, Yesterday’s Playthings, a doll, toy and train museum, Frontier Montana, a western collectible and permanent Yellowstone Historic exhibits, the Montana Law Enforcement Memorial, and Powell County Museum with Cottonwood City, celebrating our Montana heritage.
Powell County Museum & Arts Foundation supports development of Montana’s performing and fine arts.
