The Powell County Museum & Arts Foundation was established in 1979. The original purpose of the foundation was to preserve and protect the Old Montana Prison for its historical value. The Foundation operates several museums to preserve historical information and to educate the public.
We have a kit available to make your visit to our museums more enjoyable and educational. Available as part of the kit are several lesson plan worksheets. These are designed to help educate students about the Old Montana Prison. Feel free to use these materials, since they have been crated for educational use at no charge. The answers to the lessons can be found from reading the Self Guided Tour Book and essays provided, with the exception of the “Scavenger Hunt”.
